![]() MEDI-REHATEK will continue to introduce clinical manifestations and preliminary diagnosis of scoliosis symptoms V. 10.) Key point of reading X-ray image End vertebra: The head vertebra and end vertebra in scoliosis Top vertebra: Vertebral body bends with most serious malformation, which is furthest from the vertical line . The main scoliosis is primary scoliosis: Curvature presents earliest and is the largest structural bending with poor flexibility and it is hard to correct. Secondary Scoliosis: It is the compensatory scoliosis or subsequent scoliosis with a minimum bending, which has more elastic than the main scoliosis. It can be structural or non-structural. It is located above or below the main scoliosis that can maintain the body's normal line of force, usually without vertebral rotation. When there are three curves, the middle one is usually the main scoliosis, if there are four curves the two ones are the main double scoliosis in the middle. ![]() 11) Measurement of degree of curvature and rotation Measurement of degree of curvature (1) Cobb's method: it is the most commonly used, the crossed angle of vertical lines between the head of end vertebra on upper edge and the bottom of end vertebra on lower edge ,which is Cobb's angle. If the lower and upper edge is unclear on end vertebrae, it is desirable to draw a line each from upper and lower edge of the pedicle, the crossed angle of the lines is Cobb's angle. (2)Ferguson method: it israrely used, sometimes for measuring mild scoliosis. Finding out the midpoint of end vertebra and apex vertebra , and then we draw two lines respectively from the midpoint of top vertebra to midpoint of upper and lower end vertebra ,the crossed angle of the lines is the angle of scoliosis.
